Peanut was brought into the county shelter in April with a broken leg and was facing amputation. We took him in at LCAR and sought a surgical opinion. Even though the fracture was about four weeks old and pretty severe, the Doctor was confident that his leg could be saved. Surgery was performed on 5/05/2026. The fracture was corrected with the help of a plate and screws. Peanut went through over eight weeks of slow rehabilitation like a champ, and the surgery was successful; his fracture has healed, and the joint is aligned properly. There is a possibility of developing arthritis when he is older, and we have started him on a joint supplement to help with that.
He will be neutered on 7/13/2026, and by the end of the month, he will be ready for adoption. He gets along well with other dogs and was tolerant (mostly scared lol) of cats. We think that because of his condition, he would be okay with older children. He is cuddly, lovable, and super playful. And after all he has been through, he is ready to start the life that he deserves with a family of his own!
